What is QwikSlips?

  1. QwikSlips is a simple, efficient, intuitive system for entering time, costs, payments, and producing and delivering professional invoices. If you are in a small professional group or solo practitioner, you likely do not have the time or desire to learn to use an app that seems like it requires a PhD to understand and operate. You want to enter your time quickly and easily in an app – and easily produce and deliver professional invoices.

Does QwikSlips have a mobile app?

  1. Yes, download our app for Apple or Android mobile devices. Our mobile app enables you to enter or edit time and costs or send a Qwik Invoice on the go.

Can I open an account in the mobile app?

  1. You have to sign up for an account online as qwikslips.com first before using the mobile app. The mobile app is limited to core features: entering/editing time and costs, and sending Qwik Invoices. Remaining features are accessed online at qwikslips.com.

How much does QwikSlips cost?

  1. QwikSlips has a zero monthly cost.

How do I get started with QwikSlips?

  1. Sign-up for your zero monthly cost account at qwikslips.com, Get Started. Then proceed as follows:
    1. In the My Account dropdown, click on Business Info. Enter the business information for your solo practice or small law group. If you include your logo, it will appear on your invoices.
    2. In the My Account dropdown, click on Business Settings. Choose invoice settings including email delivery and link for payment.
    3. Next, in the My Account dropdown add and edit the Timekeepers for your practice. You can create as many different hourly rates as you need.
    4. In the Clients dropdown, click on Add Clients to enter client information, including initial past due amounts, trust balances, and selection of Timekeepers and Rates for each matter. Click on Add Matters and Edit Matters. You can enter multiple matters for any client, and different rates for each Timekeeper in each Matter.
    5. That’s it, you are ready to go. Fire away by entering Time, Costs, and additional Payment information under the … get this … Time, Costs, and Payments dropdowns.
    6. Check out the Qwik Invoice feature to bill consultations and other small matters … qwikly. 😉

Okay, I got started. That was easy. Now that I have time and costs entered, how do I send invoices?

  1. Get this…. the Invoices dropdown.
    1. In the Invoices dropdown click on Draft Invoices. Select the client matters you want to bill, then click on Generate Draft Invoices.
    2. After you Generate Draft Invoices, a copy of your selected draft invoices will be available to download in pdf format – convenient for reviewing, to edit and finalize your invoices.
    3. You can edit your invoices by going to the Invoices dropdown and clicking on Edit Invoices. The editing process is simple and flexible. Follow the prompts.

What do I do after editing my invoices?

  1. To send them? To clients? Yeah. So. …Invoices dropdown. Select Send Invoices.

Can I send my invoices to more than one client email address?

  1. In the Clients dropdown, when you Add Clients or Edit Clients, you can add additional emails/contacts to receive invoices.

Can I include a secure link to receive payments?

  1. In My Account dropdown, select Business Settings. Insert the link for credit card payment through your credit card service provider (Lawpay, Square, etc.), or through numerous other services like zelle®, paypal, etc.

Can I edit a Time Entry after I enter it?

  1. In the Time drop down, go to Edit Time. You can change the description, the rate, the date, the amount of time, etc.

Can I edit a Cost entry after I enter it?

  1. In the Costs drop down, go to Edit Costs. You can change the description, the amount, etc.

Can I no-charge Time or Costs?

  1. Click on the no-charge button in the Enter Time feature or the Edit Time feature. Same in Enter Costs or Edit Costs. You can also no-charge an entry in the Edit Invoices feature under the Invoices dropdown.

Can I enter client discounts on invoices.

  1. In the Invoices dropdown go to Edit Invoices. You can add discounts in dollar or percentage amounts.

How do I know what my edited invoice will look like in pdf format?

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the Edit Invoice page you are working on and click on Preview Invoice.

There are sooooo many invoices. How do I know which ones I have already edited?

  1. When you have finished editing an invoice, scroll to the top of the page and click on Done Editing. Next time you go to Edit Invoices in the Invoices dropdown, your edited invoices will have a green check mark next to them, indicating that you selected them as Edited.

Can I do more edits to an invoice that has been marked as Done Editing.

  1. No problem.

We have a new lawyer who just joined our firm – how do I add them to QwikSlips so they can bill time.

  1. Go to My Account dropdown, click on Add Timekeeper. Once you have entered a default rate (and any additional rates) you can add the new lawyer as a Timekeeper for billing on any existing matter by going to the Client dropdown and clicking on Edit Matter.

I have added a new Timekeeper, will they be able to bill time on a new client matter?

  1. QwikSlips defaults to having all active Timekeepers available on any new matter. You can remove a Timekeeper by deselecting the Timekeeper when creating a New Matter, or in the Edit Matter screen for existing matters.

What if a Timekeeper leaves our practice?

  1. In the My Account dropdown go to Edit Timekeepers. Click the User Active switch to off. Then Save. The Timekeeper will no longer appear in any matter.

Can I re-activate an inactive Timekeeper?

  1. In My Account, click on Edit Timekeepers. Click the User Active switch to the on setting. Then save. You need one subscription per active Timekeeper.

What happens if I sign out of QwikSlips? Why would I want to stay signed in?

  1. Each time you sign out, you will be required to sign in again using a six-digit one-time passcode, delivered to your email address. If you stay signed in, you will not need a new one-time passcode the next time you go to QwikSlips to enter time, costs, etc. This = saves time and makes life easier. *Note, only select Remember Me on this Device on secure computers you trust, and to which you and your administrator have Exclusive access.

Could my grandparents or little kids figure out how to use QwikSlips without reading these FAQs?

  1. It’s easy and intuitive.

Do the final invoices look professional?

  1. Excellent.

What if my client wants to receive invoices by U.S. Mail (or anything else other than email)?

  1. You can print and mail invoices. QwikSlips only delivers your emails by email to the address(es) you enter in the app.

Does my unique individual sign-on have a password?

  1. Your email is the source of your secure log-in. When you enter your email address to sign-on, a unique 6-digit one-time passcode is sent to your email address. You must enter the 6-digit code to complete the sign-on process.

Should I use a completely secure email for my sign-on?

  1. Yes! Use an email that nobody but you and your firm administrator can access. Do Not use an email that can be accessed by Anyone who is not authorized to use your QwikSlips account.

Can I stay signed on to my trusted desktop computer or other trusted device?

  1. However, you should ONLY use this feature on a completely secure computer or device. Do NOT use this feature on a shared computer or device accessible to anyone other than you or your administrator. When you activate the stay signed on feature, your QwikSlips account will be accessible to anyone using your computer,

Can I delete a Timekeeper from the system? If not, what do I do when a Timekeeper is no longer working for our firm?

  1. Timekeepers cannot be deleted. If a timekeeper is no longer active in your firm you can changes the timekeeper’s status to “inactive” in the Edit Timekeepers page and thereafter the timekeeper will no longer show up in the system for billing purposes. The timekeeper’s past work/billing will continue to be archived.

Does QwikSlips do client conflict checks, reconcile trust accounting, sync data with banks or accounting software, etc.?

  1. Enter time, enter costs, enter payments. Generate draft invoices. Edit, finalize and send invoices to your clients by email with a link for payment. QwikSlips is for the small group or solo practitioner who wants a simple, intuitive app to track time, costs, and payments, and deliver invoices.

Does QwikSlips have a client trust invoice template?

  1. Yes. However, it is not intended for use as a trust account reconciliation tool, and QwikSlips is not responsible for compliance with state bar trust account requirements.
